英語形近詞的辨析記憶一直是考生比較頭疼的一個點。尤其是在閱讀理解中，幾個關鍵詞的理解偏差可能會導致整篇文章的大意發生改變。那么，對于這些煩人的形近詞，如何將它們一一辨認清楚呢?

►形近詞盤點

1. affect V.影響、假裝

例：Nicotine?adversely affects?the functioning of the heart and arteries.

尼古丁對心臟和動脈功能有負面影響。

effect n.結果、效力(詞組：have an effect on/upon sth 對···產生影響) V.產生、導致

例：My parents’ divorce had a big effect on me. 父母離婚給我帶來了很大的影響。

to effect a compromise

達成妥協(注意：此時的effect為動詞)

2. complement N.補足(物);補足語 V. 補充;補全

例：There will be a written examination to complement the practical test.

會有一次書面考試來補充實踐測試。

compliment N. 恭維話，贊辭，敬意

例：Your presence is a great compliment.

承蒙光臨，不勝榮幸。

3. council 議事機構;委員會

例：a cabinet council內閣會議

counsel 商議，勸告

例：follow sb's counsel close牢記某人忠告。

4. distinctive (Something that is distinctive has a special quality or feature which makes it easily recognizable and different from other things of the same type.) 有特色的，獨特的

例：distinctive features 與眾不同的特色

distinct

(If something is distinct from something else of the same type， it is different or separate from it. ) 有區別的;

(If an idea， thought， or intention is distinct， it is clear and definite. )清楚的，明顯的

例：Now that Tony was no longer present， there was a distinct change in her attitude.

現在托尼不在場了，她的態度就發生了明顯變化。

5. intense 激烈的，強烈的， 緊張的

例：an intense light強烈的燈光;intense heat酷熱;an intense life奮發圖強的生活。

intensive 加強的，集中的; 深入細致的，徹底的

例：an intensive bombardment密集炮擊;an intensive study徹底的研究;an intensive reading精讀

6. historic (Something that is historic is important in history， or likely to be considered important at some time in the future.) 歷史上著名的;具有歷史意義的

例：the historic changes in Eastern Europe.

東歐有歷史性意義的變化。

historical (Historical people， situations， or things existed in the past and are considered to be a part of history.) 歷史上的

例：an important historical figure.

一位重要的歷史人物。

►記憶方法

一、歸類記憶法

將拼寫非常相近的單詞歸類分組，并查出各單詞的常用含義，再根據含義把它們有邏輯的排列在一起，根據其拼寫差異對照記憶。

例如coast， roast， boast， toast 四個單詞：

(一)查出各單詞的含義

coast n.海岸; 海濱

【例】The land is barren on the east coast.東海岸的土地貧脊。

roast vt.烤;烘;焙. vi.烤; 炙; 烘; 炒.

【例】The meat is roasting in the oven.肉在爐子里烤著。

boast vi.自夸; 吹牛; 說大話 vt.夸耀; 夸口 n. 自夸; 夸口

【例】It is nothing to boast of.這沒有什么可夸耀的。

toast n.祝酒，干杯 vt. vi. 祝...健康干杯， 敬...一杯

【例】We toasted the bride and bridegroom.我們為新娘新郎的健康干杯.

(二)將四個單詞按照一定的邏輯順序將其含義排列出來

在海岸線上燒烤，為吹噓自已而干杯。

(三)找出四個單詞的差異點進行分析比較

coast---ocean 在大海的邊上剛是大海的oc轉換成了co所以與海有關是海岸線

roast---r象燒烤用的叉子所以這個單詞為燒烤

boast---諧音(抱死他)擁抱是不會死的---吹牛

toast---單詞兩邊有兩t所以在干杯時至少兩個他才能干杯--干杯

二、詞形聯想法

雖說英語是一個以音為核心特征的語言，但是有一些單詞我們可以以字母或者字母的形狀，加以推測和區分，請看下面三組例子。

1.see/sea;

細看這兩個單詞，“ee”從象形文字的角度來說像眼睛，所以eye表示眼睛(一邊一個眼睛，中間一個鼻梁)，所以區分這兩個單詞的關鍵是2個“ee”，see表示跟eye相關，所以表示看到，看見。

2.greet/great;

這兩個單詞，“greet”里面含有2個“ee”，表示看，引申為問候，“great”里面含有“eat”吃，這個對于吃貨來說就太棒啦!

3.meet/meat;

同理“ee”表示看，“meet”表示遇見，“meat”含有“eat”，意為肉;

現在我們可以把treat理解為對待、款待;編個順口溜為，有人treat(請客)eat(吃)meat(肉)great(太棒啦!)

三、字母含義法

除了字母組合外，其實單個字母也是有自己的含義，下面以字母C進行講解：

1.cat/rat;

從象形文字的角度來看，字母“c”，特別像是在“拿”東西、“握”東西，所以類似的單詞catch表示抓住，從這個意義上貓捉老鼠，貓是“cat”，老鼠命不好，只能不停的逃跑run。

2.adopt/adapt;

從象形文字中，字母“c”特別象“拿”東西、“握”東西，還特別像劃半圓，就像單詞circle;在字母“c”的基礎上，再多劃一半，就出現了字母“o”，所以在“adopt”中“o”表示“圈過來”的含義，adopt意為收養，采納;adapt意為調整，改編。

四、諧音記憶法

1.comment/command;

在comment中“t”可以理解為評論TA人，在command中“d”可以理解為聽我“d”命令。

2.metal/medal;

在metal中“t”理解為TA只得了金屬;在model中“d”理解為我卻“d”了獎牌。
